Fresh bail application for Labasa accident suspects

High Court Judge Aruna Aluthge  has ordered a fresh bail application for the four allegedly involved in a Labasa accident that claimed the life of 49-year-old Jone Rusiate.

The four accused persons – Amrit Sen, Shumedha Chand, Mustaqir Saif Khaiyum and Joji Bale appeared before Justice Aluthge today.

Justice Aluthge asked  defence lawyer Abhay Singh whether they wanted a review or was it an appeal against the Magistrate Courts decision to remand them.

Mr Singh said that by law, the judge could hear the bail application.

However, Justice Aluthge said the Magistrates decision was still valid which was to remand the four until June 30th.

He told Mr Singh to file a fresh bail application on June 30.
