Maroons outclass Marist; coach Malumu impressed

The Nabua Maroons side outclassed their opponents from the Marist Rugby Club by 29-15 in round eight of the Suva Rugby Union FMF Escott Shield competition at Bidesi ground in Laucala Bay yesterday.
Maroons coach Jim Malumu said it was a tough clash with the team from Flagstaff but he was happy with the performance from his young side.
“This was a good game and I thank these young players for fighting till the end,” said Malumu.
“We take every game seriously and we count it as a build up for us in the coming games to come.”
Malumu added they had a lot to work on in the coming weeks with their aim of reaching the competition play-offs.
“We will take all the learning from this game and try and improve on it moving forward.”
In other Escott Shield and Koroturaga Cup matches played yesterday, Army defeated Breakthrough 22-10, Fiji Bitter Savura beat Nasinu 18-10, Nabua White drew with Draunivau Sharks 10-all, Lami Cavaliers outclassed Kalokolevu Gold by 27-7 and Central Brothers pipped Lami Rugby in a close encounter 13-12.
