The National Federation Party leader Professor Biman Prasad said the shelved Qoliqoli Bill was not associated with The People’s Alliance party leader Sitiveni Rabuka but was introduced in Fiji by the late former prime minister Laisenia Qarase’s government.

He made the comments at a meeting in Moto, Ba on Friday night, saying Mr Rabuka’s opponents were trying to connect the Qoliqoli Bill to him.

“This issue about the Qoliqoli Bill is also being used as a political falsehood being spread,” Prof Prasad said.

“Slowly they are going into the Indo-Fijian community and saying that once Rabuka comes in, he will bring the Qoliqoli Bill.

“They are saying once that happens, then you won’t be able to fish.

“They are saying that Biman has gone with Rabuka and they will bring the Qoliqoli Bill.

“Qoliqoli Bill was introduced by the Qarase government and it never saw the light of day.

“And they are trying to pin it on Rabuka. This is another fear-mongering that is being used to scare you and all this is also being propagated by fake profilers on social media.

“I am telling you again tonight that all these are lies.” |
